Totem at the Royal Albert Hall

Those looking for things to do in London in the New Year should try the Cirque Du Soleil's Totem at the Royal Albert Hall.

Cirque du Soleil's brand new touring show provides a captivating journey into the evolution of mankind: from its original amphibian state to its desire to fly.

Totem is inspired by founding myths and uses visual and acrobatic language to illustrate the progress of humanity.

Described as "somewhere between science and legend", the show, which runs from January 6th through to February 17th, also explores the bonds between humans and other species, the dreams of mankind and its unlimited potential.

The characters evolve before the eyes of the audience, eventually evoking a giant turtle - the symbol of origin for many civilisations in the ancient world.

One other attraction at the Royal Albert Hall is Mikhail Gorbachev's 80th birthday celebration on March 30th, which will celebrate the life of the Novel Peace Prize winner.
